フォーブスは今回が史上初となる「世界で最も稼ぐユーチューバー（YouTube Stars）」ランキングを公開した。ここに登場する10名の年収は最低でも250万ドル（約3億円）。フォーブスではニールセンや IMDB の指標を元に、データを作成。所属エージェントや弁護士、業界関係者らへのインタビューを通じ、今年6月までの一年間の収入を推計した。

ゲーム実況やプランクと呼ばれるいたずら動画、ヘアメイクの仕方等の動画で最低でも数百万人の視聴者を持つ彼らのほとんどは30歳以下。自身の番組の視聴者層よりも、わずかに年齢の高い世代が莫大な富をYouTubeから、そして広告スポンサーから得ていることが分かった。下記にそのメンバーを紹介する。

億万長者のユーチューバーたち

1位：ピューディパイ／PewDiePie

年収: 1200万ドル（約14億円）

ゲーム実況を配信する彼のYouTubeチャンネルの購読者は4000万人弱。スウェーデンが産んだ「ユーチューブ最大のスター」として知られる彼は、滅多にメディアのインタビューを受けないことでも知られている。ホラー系ゲーム「ウォーキング・デッド」の実況動画でも注目を集めている。

2位 (タイ)： スモッシュ／Smosh

年収:850万ドル（約10億円）

2名とも1987年生まれ。カリフォルニア州サクラメント出身のアンソニー・ペディラとイアン・ヒコックスらは、コミカルなポケモンのゲーム実況動画で注目を集めた。スペイン語版を含む、5つのYouTubeチャンネルを運営。7月には彼らの名を冠した映画「スモッシュ」も公開された。

2位 (タイ)：ファインブラザース／Fine Brothers

年収:850万ドル（約10億円）

オンラインを活動の場とする新しいコメディアンの代表各と言えるのがファインブラザース。他の有名ユーチューバーの動画やニッキー・ミナージュ、日本のバンドのBABYMETALのプロモビデオなどを引用し、それを見た一般人のリアクションを面白おかしく紹介する。2012年にはデイタイム・エミー賞でベスト・バイラル動画賞を獲得した。

4位：リンジー・スターリング／ Lindsey Stirling

年収:600万ドル（約7億1400万円）

バレエを踊りながらバイオリンを演奏する彼女は2007年、メジャーレコードレーベルとの契約に失敗後、動画の投稿を開始した。今や有名レーベルからのオファーが殺到する彼女は2014年にはビルボード・ミュージックアワードを受賞。2015年3月には来日公演も行った。

5位（タイ）： Rhett & Link

年収:450万ドル（約5億3500万円）

38歳と37歳というユーチューバーとしては比較的高齢な二人組。Rhett McLaughlinと Charles Lincoln らはノースカロライナ州立大学でエンジニアリングの学位を取得後、会社員生活を送っていた。日々の出来事をコミカルに紹介するニュース番組Good Mythical Morningで人気。収入のほぼ半分は広告収入で得ており、トヨタやウェンディーズ、ジレット等の企業がスポンサーになっている。

5位（タイ）： KSI

年収：450万ドル（約5億3500万円）

イギリスのゲームコメンテーター、Olajide Olatunjiは1100万人のフォロワー数を持つ。音楽業界への進出も目論む彼は、4月にヒップホップの楽曲「ランボルギーニ」を英国のチャート30位に送り込んでいる。

7位: ミシェル・ファン／Michelle Phan

年収：300万ドル（約3億5700万円）

メイク動画で世界の女性から圧倒的支持を得るのがミシェル・ファン。レディー・ガガやアンジェリーナ・ジョリー等のセレブに変身する化粧法を分かりやすく伝授する。起業家としての一面も持ち、月額10ドルで化粧品のサンプルが毎月届くサービス「ipsy」を運営している。

8 位（タイ）:リリー・シン／ Lilly Singh

年収：250万ドル（約3億円）

インドからの移民を両親を持つカナダ人女性、リリーは人種ネタを扱うことが多いコメディアン。歌手活動も行っており、2015年には「ユニーコーン島への旅」と題したワールドツアーも敢行。世界27都市で公演を行った。

8 位（タイ）: ローマン・アトウッド／Roman Atwood

年収：250万ドル（約3億円）

人気テレビ司会者の豪邸をトイレットペーパーで覆うなどの、過激なプランク（いたずら）動画で人気のアトウッドは32歳。700万人以上のフォロワー数を誇る彼には、大手企業も関心を示し、北米日産のスーパーボウルのCMにも起用された。ファン向けにオリジナルグッズを販売するオンラインストア、Smile More Storeも運営している。

8 位（タイ）:ロザンナ・パニシノ／ Rosanna Pansino

年収：250万ドル（約3億円）

独学で料理を身につけたシェフのロザンナは1985年生まれ。独特な手法でパンを焼く番組、Nerdy Nummiesで注目を浴びた彼女はオリジナルのレシピ本も出版。本年度からキッチン雑貨の WILTON社ともパートナー契約を結んでいる。
